"VPA Pavilion"

"The pavilion should embrace the design challenge of generating tectonic-form strategy in response to the programmatic needs of an art exhibition and event space for the School of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) at the edge of the Syracuse University campus. Design work will include project constructions of structural and spatial form in dialogue with programmatic requirements and thoughtful site and context considerations."

This arts facility will become an important public VPA venue on the University campus. Situated at the highly trafficked corner of Waverly and Walnut avenues, the Pavilion will itself be visible throughout the neighborhood while offering a large exhibition space within. The multi-purpose art space presents a tectonically generalized design language, but provides different dialogues of material, form, and light to create an ideal display and interpretation space.
