"We will address issues about architecture in the city, specifically the notion of public space within the public or private urban building."
â
The "privatization" of new public spaces surrounding the High Line in New York represents a startling trend of Architectural manipulation. Addressing the cultural dichotomy- resultant of and resulting in new development- there is a declaratory ownership over space and Architecture. Though public space is advertised by its spatial inclusivity, intended participation and consumption becomes manipulated for exclusionary means. To privatize the public space by dissuasion and cultural barriers divides the public purely through social constructs for which this project aims to highlight and bring awareness.
